Assembly Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a Robotics Technician to join our team and support the assembly, testing, and debugging of our robotic systems. This role is hands-on and critical to our rapid prototyping, troubleshooting, and hardware validation efforts and includes mechanical and electrical assembly and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble robotic systems, subassemblies, actuators, and mechanical components according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform precise mechanical assembly using hand and power tools, presses, and fixtures.
  • Assemble and route wiring harnesses, connectors, and sensors; ensure proper strain relief and secure installation.
  • Perform light electrical assembly and basic soldering for connectors, harnesses, and small PCB subassemblies.
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues using basic lab equipment (multimeter, continuity tester, etc.).
  • Follow established quality standards; inspect assemblies for fit, finish, and functional performance before integration.
  • Utilize 3D printers for simple jigs, fixtures, and mounting hardware to support assembly tasks.
  • Maintain organized work areas, tools, and inventory for mechanical and electrical parts.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of work instructions and process documentation.
  • Recommend and help implement process improvements to improve assembly efficiency and consistency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years hands-on experience in mechanical or electromechanical assembly in a manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, or automotive environment.
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field or equivalent military/work experience.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
    • Skilled in the use of standard hand tools, torque tools, and basic fabrication equipment.
    • Experience assembling and routing wiring harnesses for electro-mechanical systems.
    • Comfortable performing light soldering (through-hole or surface mount) for basic electrical connections.
    • Able to follow detailed assembly steps with precision and meet production timelines.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience creating and maintaining work instructions or process documentation.
  • Exposure to 3D printing, CNC machining, or other rapid prototyping tools.
  • Experience in a robotics production or prototyping environment.
  • Experience with CAD tools and ability to understand GD&T.
  • Experience with machinery/CNC.

Compensation

$65 - $95k/yr, plus equity
